Opening for Robert Lee Skaggs

Robert Lee Skaggs

CW Gallery of Fine Art located at 210 South First St, Rogers, AR will be hosting a Reception for Robert Lee Skaggs on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 from 4:30pm to 9:00pm.  Robert’s artwork will remain on display thru April 27, 2013.  479-225-6758  http://www.CWGalleryofFineArt.com

At eighty-five Robert continues to bring forth the most amazing paintings … still somewhat comfortably in debt to Claude Monet and Louis Ritman . Robert’s images drawn from the natural world use beautifully orchestrated light and color to afford the viewer a visual journey that is both refreshing and up lifting.

Robert was born on June 30,1927 in Rogers, AR and raised on a farm near Avoca, AR.  He graduated in May 1952 from The School of The Art Institute of Chicago with a Diploma in Drawing, Painting and Illustration.  Further studies include work in language, humanities, and writing at The University of Chicago and informal studies in natural history at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle Illinois.

Robert held the position of Assistant to The Dean at SAIC until 1967 when he resigned to become a member of the school’s faculty.  As a member of the Painting Department he taught a variety of courses including Composition, Materials and Techniques Painting Concepts, Still Life and Landscape Painting.

Robert has had numerous solo exhibitions and has been shown in-group Exhibitions at The Art Institute of Chicago, The Museum of Modern Art in New York and other public venues. He has been represented by The Sheffield Gallery and The Jan Cicero Gallery both in Chicago IL.  He is currently represented by Johnson’s of Madrid in Madrid, NM and at    CW Gallery of Fine Art in Rogers, AR.

Robert became Professor Emeritus from SAIC in 1992 and returned to Northwest Arkansas to paint and write. He currently resides and works in Rogers …..,He recently said that he no longer thinks of his drawings and paintings as pictures but as incidents in seeing .

I love taking photographs. Capturing that moment in time that will put a smile on your face is what I do. My motto is "Photography Done Your Way" What does this mean? I will go out of my way to put you and your family at ease, I have a studio that you can come to, if that really isn't your thing I can come to your home or if you have a favorite outdoor place or indoor place we can go there. You want to change clothes no problem, you want to change locations no problem. I will work with you so that you capture those moments that are precious to you.
